Welcome to My SUPERMAN Page
I'm participating in Women Swimmin' to raise money for Hospicare & Palliative Care Services. The funds I raise will provide medical expertise and emotional, spiritual and practical support to patients and their families.
For those who may be wondering- yes, I have someone I know in hospicare. My best friend's mother-in-law, whom I have met personally, is in it right now. I also have a friend who works in hospice, so I've heard stories about people's last days and how much the family appreciates someone like her being there. Throughout the whole process, but especially in the final moments.
So. Since I can’t attend the lake swim, I plan to swim as many laps as possible with what’s left of my Y membership to raise money for a great cause.
To make donating a little more fun, I will let anyone who donates bet on me. I will give prizes to those who guess closest to how many laps I swim. (If you are an out of towner, I'll mail the prize if you win).
I will have a prize for the top 10% of people who place bets. So if only 10 people give me numbers, 1 person will get a prize. But if 100 do, there will be 10 prizes. =) Prizes are for the closest guesses, you can go over, but if there is a tie, it will go to the person who didn’t go over.
The prize will be the fudge that my best friend, whose mother-in-law is actually in hospice care, makes. It is delicious and worth trying to win. I’ll also throw in some other sweets such as maple syrup, maple candy and/or honey straws. The 1st closest guess will obviously get the most/biggest treats and they will get smaller for each place winner.
85 laps (lengths) are needed to equal the 1.2 mile lake swim. My ultimate goal is to swim 5 times that! But we’ll see how much I can get done… My Y membership ends April 3rd and while I wasn’t planning on extending it... I will be swimming approximately 12 days over the next few months and will announce a winner when I'm done swimming. (Probably beginning of May). After you make a donation, you can Facebook Message me or email me with the number of laps/pool lengths you think I'll be able to do over about 12 Y visits. =)
I think that's all I have to say. Thanks in advance to everyone who supports me, and hospicare by making a donation. Every little bit helps to make important end-of-life care available to those who need it--regardless of their ability to pay.
