Women Swimmin' is a community swim (not a race!) for women ages 18 and over. Together we raise funds which go directly to support our patients and their families.

The 15th Annual Women Swimmin’ for Hospicare was quite a day! The weather brought challenges the morning of the lake swim. The safety of our swimmers and boaters has always been paramount in planning and executing Women Swimmin’for Hospicare. On Saturday, August 11, there was concern for both. The current and winds had increased substantially pushing swimmers off course; and boaters who had been on the water for hours in the rain, with temperatures dropping, were becoming increasingly chilled. Some came back to the Ithaca Yacht Club with hypothermia. Unfortunately, the deteriorating conditions on the lake forced the cancellation of the last wave of the swim.

The weather may have diminished some of the exhilaration of the day, especially for those swimmers whose wave was cancelled, but it cannot diminish the importance of the funds they raised.  All the money raised by our hard-working swimmers and boaters is used to fulfill Hospicare's promise to our community that no one will be denied services because of an inability to pay.

Thank you to all our swimmers, boaters, volunteers and donors for your contributions to Women Swimmin' for Hospicare! Our closing ceremonies on swim day were cut short, please check out our video below for a brief substitution of the thanks and appreciation we would have shared.
